Got the boys mentos rockets yesterday. They work by dumping mentos into a bottle of diet soda. There's supposes to be a huge spray of soda up into the air, which, theoretically, would propel a foam rocket into the sky. We did not acheive optimal results with our rockets for this first launch. The boys got a kick out "helping" Andy set up the rockets and enjoyed seeing the foam shoot out of the bottles of coke.

I don't know how true it is - but some rowdy teenage boys I know (AKA my brother and his friends) swear that Diet Coke is the only way to go when constructing Mentos rockets...
just thought I would share that :)
and now I see you already said diet soda...
