Opening day for the pool

From May 2008
We got the wading pool out last Saturday for the boys to play in. They were so excited and the water was so cold! Those boys got right in, then back out, then in....you get the idea. The next day was cooler out, but we still filled the pool and let them play in it, until we noticed that Cale's lips were a little blue-too cold! We're hoping to eventually make it to the local pool so the boys have something a little deeper to play in.

2 things I love...

1. My boys' love of wrist bands. Marcus and Cale have them on every day and we have a stash to rotate through so I can keep the wrist bands clean. Ewan likes them too, mostly b/c his big brothers wear them. The wrist bands are usually the source of their super-powers and are used to fight the bad guys on the Power Ranger videos. Although, if you ask Marcus why he wears them, he just says, "Because I do."

In this photo, Cale has on 7 wrist bands. He wore them all day.

2. Our preschool. I love that they give all their graduates a Bible with their name on it for graduation. And, it's not a little kids Bible-it's the grown-up version for them to treasure and read from when they're ready. I also loved that they gave each of the graduates a specific award. Marcus's was that he remembers all the prayer requests when it's his turn to say the prayer. How sweet is that! His teacher said that Marcus has a kind heart!

Fun with mentos

Got the boys mentos rockets yesterday. They work by dumping mentos into a bottle of diet soda. There's supposes to be a huge spray of soda up into the air, which, theoretically, would propel a foam rocket into the sky. We did not acheive optimal results with our rockets for this first launch. The boys got a kick out "helping" Andy set up the rockets and enjoyed seeing the foam shoot out of the bottles of coke.

Preschool program & Marcus's graduation

May 2008

By clicking on the picture above, you should be able to see all the photos we have from the preschool program on Tuesday night. The theme was "Under the Sea" and highlighted stuff the kids had learned the past few months about the ocean and marine life. Marcus is wearing sunglasses as part of his "costume" (think beach-wear).

During the group singing, Marcus sung, but did not do any of the actions.

Cale did great, too. He participated in all the songs. He also waved to us and called "Hi Mommy, Hi Daddy!" everytime he glanced at us
Here is a photo of Marcus with his cap and gown on. As soon as the program was over, he took the cap and gown off and refused to put them back on-too hot! Truly his father's son :-)

We taped the program as well. One day, I may figure out how to upload it to the computer and edit it so everyone can see the live-action version of graduation. But, don't keep your fingers crossed for anytime soon! :-)

Boys and balloons

Finally, I had time to take the boys to get their hair cut. It had been probably 2 months and you almost couldn't see poor Ewan's eyes because his hair was so long. I was happy b/c the boys got their hair cut before their preschool program. The boys were happy b/c they got suckers and balloons. A good day.

Our new scholar

Here's Andy, the new student in the family. It feels nice to be handing the school reins to someone else. I know he'll be working hard this summer in his organic chemistry classes.

Jammies from Grammy!

The boys love their new pajamas from Grammy Pammy! Cale did not want to take his off the next morning.

Road trip to Ball State

We took a little trip to Ball State today so that Andy could get a feel for the layout of the campus, get a parking permit, and so we could get out of the house after a day of constant rain yesterday. First, we looked at a map to figure out where we were.

Then, we waited while Andy got his parking pass.

Discovering the fountain was lots of fun.

We toured the science building and one other building before we got back in the car and headed home-with a quick stop at McDonald's, of course.

Things happening today

That's right! Today was IUK's graduation. I checked my online transcript to make sure my degree was now listed-it was (let me say that the degree was not listed last night and I was a little nervous that I had forgotten to take a class or something and wouldn't get my degree). I graduated "with distinction" which I assume is kind of like "with honors".

Instead of going to graduation, we had an appointment for the Nielson Media people to come out and hook up instruments to our televisions so they can monitor what programs we watch. We think this will be fun, and finally a way for those under-viewed tv shows (which are usually the ones we like) to get the attention they deserve. Although, we did tell the installer "they'll see we watch a lot of Disney and Nickelodeon".
