weekly update, 2nd week

Go me.  I found time, once again, to post a weekly update of pictures from my phone.
Kinley tagged along to Cale's band concert.  The middle school bands played their contest pieces.  She was a good, little attendee for the concert.

Look-Iron Man is a sponsor of the arts!  (this ad was in the concert program)

Oh, Kinley-this expression!

Love her!  She's my partner in crime this year.

But next year-kindergarten!  She was excited to go register and tell the teachers that "I already know everything!"

Random cat picture, because I can.  Kinley (of course) likes to give the cats stuffed animals to sleep with.

What our kitchen table looks like.  There is still (some) room to eat meals.  It's just that this spot in the house gets the best light right now and the plants are super-excited about that.

Also, looking good, west side of the school.  New windows and a new exterior door.

Kella got her gala costumes.  Here's her tap one.  It's super-cute with that black and gold tutu.

Also, the ballet costume.  The class is doing a Frozen medley.  I knew they would get and Else-esque costume.

Took Marcus and Cale to the theatre on Sunday.  We got to see Les Miserables.  The boys were even good enough sports to wear their Les Miz themed shirts.  (It's the Jean Valjean fan club 😊)

Another photo, because I'm the mom and I say so.

Balcony seats-and they were great.

I love this theatre.  Love all the detail in the architecture.
The boys had a great time and loved the show.  The cast did a great job.  This was one of the first musicals I ever saw and it is still one of my favorites.  The boys even requested that we listen to the soundtrack on the way home that night. So, I know they really liked the show.

And, this post was possible because it is a "lazy" Tuesday morning.  (Here are Kinley, Mr. Orange and myself enjoying watching tv in bed) I am playing laundry catch-up and maybe some errand running later.  We have a bare minimum of activities for tonight.  It should be great.

Have a great week!

Cale-choir

Here's an end of the week treat:  the middle school 7th/8th grade choir (Cale) performing two of their contest pieces.  They went to choir contest today and got a gold rating.  Enjoy!

a random weekly update

Hello there.  I have decided to try something and attempt to post weekly in an attempt to keep the blog updated.  Here we go.  These are all selected photos from my phone from the past week (or so)....in no particular order.
Friday the 2nd was Dr. Seuss Day at the primary school.  Kella wanted to be "blue fish" this year.  This is our interpretation and she looked pretty cute.  I got to go see the parade of characters that afternoon and she had taken off the tutu-so not as cute then.

We got ready for the annual pinewood derby with the Cub Scouts.  Andy made me this awesome Harry Potter car for the adult race.  Harry finished a respectable 2nd out of the adult cars.

Kinley got the first of 2 dance outfits for the gala in June.  This is her ballet outfit.  It's the perfect dance outfit for a little girl-pink and puffy.

Pretty much every week, Kinley gets to eat out at least once.  I'm tired of fast food and have decided to go to "nicer" places.  You know, ones without a play area.  I think she is having fun.

Cale was part of a robotics team that competed in state on Saturday.  They worked hard these season, but did not qualify for worlds at the end of April.  No worries.  Cale has his sights set on worlds next year.  Those are in China.

2 weeks ago, the middle school jazz band competed in a contest.  They got golds on all their songs and Cale even had a solo.  That stinker didn't tell me he had one-I found out from a parent friend.

The girls got to go see Cinderella with Andy.  The girls loved the show and got to meet most of the cast afterwards.  They are already excited to see Rapunzel there in the fall.

Sisters.  💓

Cale ensemble ISMAA 2018

The french horn trio.  They've come a long way from "A Tiskit a Taskit" (their piece from last year).  It is exciting, at least for me (and probably their band directors, too), to hear their improvement.

Marcus solo ISMAA 2018

Here we go, Marcus's solo piece.  He is playing a level 1 piece which means that it is a piece of the most challenging level.  He is also playing this piece almost immediately after playing in the ensemble that he was a part of.  Needless to say, he was tired.  His band director said that next time they would arrange for better spacing between solo and ensemble pieces.  But, I thought it sounded pretty great, and it reminded me of a lyrical piece with the voice part being the trombone.  Enjoy.

Marcus ensemble ISMAA 2018

The ensemble that Marcus was a part of was the next event for our family.  We were able to go home after Cale's solo and have a few hours off before going back for the rest of the day.  A full house for this performance, for sure.

Cale ISMAA 2018

Cale's solo was the first performance for our family on contest day.  I enjoyed getting to listen to Cale play instead of accompanying him on the piano.  Cale played for a total audience of 3-me, the judge and the judge's helper.  It was neat to hear how much he has improved in the past year.
