1 week old/first doctor visit

Time passes too quickly. Kella was a week old on Sunday. She had a good first week at home. Mostly she slept, then she would wake up to eat and go back to sleep. I don't think her eyes were open very much. She got held- a lot. When she wasn't sleeping in our arms-which was most of the time, she occasionally took a break in her bouncy chair. Thank goodness the grammies were here to help spoil and hold her, and give attention to her brothers . Marcus and Cale were still in school, but Ewan and Liam were home and were glad for the presence of the grammies.

Kella had her first check-up with her doctor on Tuesday. (I just have to say we love our doctor. When she came to check on Kella in the hospital, our doctor started to cry-happy tears-she was so excited for us. I'm so glad we found her, and it was a totally chance suggestion by my OB when Marcus was born.) At this visit, Kella weighed 7 lbs 10 ounces, a 5 oz less than her birth weight. We go back next Tuesday for a weigh-in, but we don't have to do any special extra feedings like we did with Liam. Kella is a bit jaundiced also, but no one is worried and it will probably clear up soon.

I took her to church last night. I made it there only 5 minutes late with all the kids. Quite an accomplishment since we also had an orthodontist appointment that evening (Marcus now just has to wear his retainer at night. We go back in 3 months for a check-up). A new baby always attracks attention and Kella had a little entourage of elementary age girls. Many people said "she's so tiny!". I think they are used to our big boy babies. :-)

Time for lunch for the boys, I'm slowly getting caught up on everything!
