a song from Ewan

Here's Ewan, singing a song from the preschool program. He is definitely an enthusiatic singer. He also likes singing "If you're happy and you know it" and "Twinkle, twinkle little star". :-)

preschool program

From May2009
Cale and Ewan's preschool program was last Thursday. It's hard to believe another year of preschool is done. Everyone is getting older! :-( The program was a jungle theme. The kids sang familiar songs with modified jungle lyrics. I didn't video record any of it this year, just took some photos. (the one above will take you to others-some not well taken-still trying to figure out this new camera) The one above is of Cale holding a picture of a boa constrictor. Each kid in his class had a fact to say about different animals. Cale's phrase was "the boa constritor quickly wraps his coils around his prey". It was one of the longest phrases-his teachers thought Cale could handle it-he could. When it was Cale's turn to talk, he spoke very loudly into the microphone and emphasized about every other word: "the BOA CONSTRICTOR quickly WRAPS his COILS around his PREY". Well done.

10 years!

Yesterday was Andy and my 10 year anniversary. It 's hard to believe we've been married for ten years or that we're old enough to be married for that long :-). We didn't have any big plans for yesterday-a new baby kind of helps keep things low-key. The boys and I met Andy @ the YMCA after Andy got done with work and he took Marcus, Cale and Ewan swimming while I watched from the sidelines with Liam. Then, we took the boys out to eat at a local restaurant called T-balls. The boys love the hot dogs there. After dinner, which we ate late (for the boys), we came home and let the boys play outside for a little bit, enjoying the weather. After we got them to bed, Andy and I watched "Taken". The movie was great, and, we stayed up for all of it! Maybe next year we will plan something with just the two of us, but celebrating with the boys was a nice way to spend the time this year.

Andy's new hobby

Here's Andy, all "dressed up" for his first bike ride event- a 35 mile ride around the countryside outside of Cicero. Unfortunately, he could not ride his new road bike-a wheel is currently being repaired. He had to ride his mountain bike for the event. He still had fun, it was a beautiful day for a ride on Sunday. He's looking to do another ride in late July.

the flag football experience

We signed the boys up for outdoor spring sports-Marcus in flag football and Cale in soccer. So far we have had one nice day for a practice. I guess in Indiana the only 2 weather conditions we have are rainy and windy. The fields have been pretty muddy for each game and practice which is especially hard on Marcus, who currently has an aversion to getting muddy. Maybe this will help him get over that "problem". So we come home on Saturdays muddy and wet and cold. Thank goodness for oxyclean!-definitely gets the mud off of everyone clothes! But the boys like being on their teams and playing in the games-so it's worth the hassle of the spring weather watching them get excieted about sports.

2 shots of Marcus playing. The coaches rotate the all the boys through all the positions. Marcus likes playing and is one of the faster kids on the team and understands the concept of running down the ball carrier at an angle to intercept him faster (Andy gets excited about that).

Liam tolerates the game moderately well.

Ewan loves the football games, mostly because of a sand pit (aka old volleyball area) where he can dig and get filthy. You can't tell in this photo, but he is covered in mud from the waist down and his socks are absolutely brown! (they were white-I don'y know if oxyclean can help me with them)
Cale, slightly muddy from his soccer game earlier in the day. We are @ sports from 9-1130 every Saturday.

weight checks

Today is a good day. It's the day Liam's weight is back up to 9 pounds 13 ounces! We have been watching his weight over the past week and have gone to the doctor's office for weight checks a few times. They wanted to monitor his weight since he went down to 9 pounds 1.5 ounces for about a week and wasn't gaining the weight back. Last Friday we started our "fattening up" project, giving him 1-2 ounces of formula after almost every feeding (which he quickly swallows up-this boy needs a lot of food!). Our efforts have paid off and we do not have to go back to the doctor until his 1 month check up @ the end of May.
